The Project in Lewisham

The Project in Lewisham
Partners in Lewisham aimed to achieve these outcomes in two project sites - Cornmill Gardens and Ladywell Fields. These are both urban, riverside parks. Cornmill Gardens was created through the QUERCUS project, while Ladywell Fields was re-landscaped.

Ladywell Fields

Ladywell Fields
In Ladywell Fields, the former featureless green space has become a riverside haven, buzzing with people and nature. The renewal of the park was specifically designed to make the space feel safer, and to focus on the park’s unique asset – the River Ravensbourne.

Designing out crime in Ladywell Fields

Designing out crime in Ladywell Fields
At the heart of the QUERCUS project was the Design Out Crime model for river corridors. Groundwork South East London carried out a study examining crime on the Ravensbourne river corridor.

Cornmill Gardens

Cornmill Gardens
On the 23 September 2007 Cornmill Gardens was formally opened to the public with a country fair and live music. Since then the open space has proved a great success.

Community involvement

Community involvement
Through encouraging people to use the park, and feel ownership of it and the river, the QUERCUS project has made Ladywell Fields a cherished place in the community.
